AKA held its 44th National Convention October 9-14, 2023, in Enid, Oklahoma. Everyone attending the convention had a great time! The flying fields and facilities were great, the sun was shining, and there were lots of smiles all around despite the extremely challenging winds. Here’s the information about the results of the Kitemakers’ Competition and AKA’s special awards: 2023 Convention Results COME FLY WITH US Flying kites is an uplifting event! Kites can be a hobby, sport, art, science project, or social event – sometimes all at the same time. Kites are fun to fly and beautiful to watch. Kite flying is a great activity for children of all ages. There is a real sense of freedom transcending borders when you fly. Flying kites crosses cultures, generations, age groups, social groups, and nations. Kite flying is a wonderful and peaceful pastime. Kiting is for everyone — whether you’re a child who just built your first kite out of newspaper and twigs or a competitive sport kite flier who spends every available minute practicing your craft.
